A Mexican-American walks into a Chicago bar, orders mezcal... and the rest is history.
Michelle Rivas Notestine is a storyteller, educator and communications professional. After completing an MBA and submitting her final capstone on the sustainability and biodiversity of mezcal, she decided to continue her agave studies by traveling to the source, visiting agave-based spirit haunts around the world, and interviewing agave experts who are much smarter than she is on the topic.
She obtained her mezcal sommelier certification from the Agave Spirits Institute and will be sharing her favorite flavors, brands and travel spots through the Agave Academic podcast.
She draws upon her background in journalism and social impact to empower listeners to think beyond the traditional consumer experience and centers mujeres, sustainability, cultura and the history behind agave-based spirits.
